There are so many trees and fallen trunks that lends itself so beautifully for a leopard to drape itself over. Sometimes, you are lucky to find a leopard taking full advantage of these lateral branches and you may find them simply lounging about.

The African Hoopoe is one of those birds that bring back wonderful childhood memories. We used to have a resident bird in the neighborhood then all of a sudden it disappeared and we never saw one again for years. Living in the bush, I see these guys on a regular basis now, but I have never come across one this relaxed. I was laying on the ground and this hoopoe walked confidently around me, looking for bugs in the grass.
Of all the birds that I get to witness and photograph, I still have a soft spot for these tiny Malachite Kingfishers.
One of the benefits of taking it slow and enjoying time around the campsite, is that you get to enjoy the antics of some of the smaller creatures.
What a spectacular moment being able to watch the circle of life play out in full swing. Never did I imagine that I would witness a mother cheetah raise her two cubs to adulthood and in turn raise cubs of their own.
Sometimes the small, seemingly boring, brown birds are the ones that provide the most entertainment. This Karoo Prinia was all over the show before it paused on this branch for a mere moment.

Favourites will always be favourites. This is especially true when you have watched wildlife survive the elements and battle against the odds since a young age.
